About

Countertop takeoff for fabrication shops.

Counterly is countertop takeoff and quoting software for stone fabrication shops. It reads architectural and kitchen layout drawings, extracts the countertop geometry — runs, depths, islands, backsplash, fixture breaks — and produces square footage, linear footage of finished edge, a slab nesting layout, and a priced quote. It is built for shops running bridge saws and CNC/waterjet, and handles multi-unit residential jobs where one unit type repeats across dozens or hundreds of apartments.

Counterly was built inside a working stone shop by people who quote countertops for a living.

Features

PDF takeoff and slab nesting.

Counterly reads the drawing, traces each countertop run, and shows the dimensions and assumptions used in the takeoff.

PDF takeoff
Upload plans. Square footage per unit type — computed in code, not guessed.
Slab nesting
2D bin-packing maximizes yield on standard slab sizes.
Multi-unit plans
Organized by plan labels (KT1, KT2, V1, V2) for apartments and multi-family.
Drawing-level detail
See the countertop runs, dimensions, cutouts, and assumptions Counterly used for each unit type.
No CAD required
Upload a PDF. No AutoCAD markup or separate estimating-software setup.
Quote-ready output
Automated PDF takeoff and nesting for multi-unit residential work.

Use cases

Same takeoff, every unit type, every time.

For shops that send a lot of multi-unit quotes and need the numbers to hold up under volume.

Multi-family builders

Consistent takeoffs across every unit type in the plan set.

Production shops

More quotes per estimator — minutes per takeoff, not hours.

Growing fabricators

Scale multi-unit volume without rebuilding your estimating process.

FAQ

Questions.

What is a countertop takeoff?

A countertop takeoff is the measurement of every countertop surface in a job from drawings, producing square footage, linear footage of finished edge, and a piece-by-piece breakdown. It is the input to both the material order and the customer quote.

What drawings does Counterly read?

Architectural plans, kitchen layout sheets, elevations, and shop submittals, as vector PDFs exported from CAD or design software. Multi-unit matrix submittals with repeating unit types are supported directly.

How does Counterly handle multi-unit jobs?

Unit types are read once and multiplied by quantity, then nested across the whole job rather than per unit. That cross-type nesting is where slab savings come from on large residential projects.

Does Counterly produce a quote?

Yes. A finished takeoff becomes a priced quote: a line per unit type, backsplash on its own line, plus the edge and cutout items from your price list. Download it as a PDF.

Can I correct what it reads?

Yes. Counterly asks about anything the drawing leaves open; answer the questions and re-read, and the numbers follow your answers. For a hand-drawn job, every run is editable on the Draw tab.

What slab sizes does it nest against?

Any. Standard, jumbo, and super jumbo are preset, and you can enter the actual dimensions of the bundle you're buying.
