Linear feet vs square feet
Square feet measure the surface area of the stone (length × depth, minus cutouts as your shop rules dictate). Linear feet measure a one-dimensional length — most often finished edge, sometimes splash length. A quote needs both: SF for material and slabs, LF for edge work.
Square feet
Drives slab count, material cost, and often the base fabrication price. Nesting yield converts SF into how many slabs you actually order.
Linear feet
Usually means finished-edge LF on a Counterly-style quote. Backsplash may also be quoted in SF (height × length) or as LF of splash at a stated height — keep the unit explicit on the line item.
